Last weekend I took a Silk Screening 101 class at DIY Lounge at collage on Alberta. The class was taught by Nicole Cipriano. I’ve always wanted to take a silk screening class and learn more about printing multiple images, so this was a rewarding experience for me. Below are photos from the class as well as the start of a new painting incorporating two of my final prints. The finished painting will be included in my July show.
It was a small class - only room for four of us students and our teacher, Nicole.
Nicole built our screens for us and prepped them with photo emulsion. This is my screen ready for inking.
One of the students is practicing putting emulsion on a screen.
This was the setup for burning the photo image onto the screen.
This is the painting that I am working on inspired by Ted Kooser’s poem “They Had Torn Off My Face at the Office.” It utilizes two of the prints I made on acetate.
