For the next several months I will be working on a new series for my July ‘09 exhibition at Beppu Wiarda Gallery. The paintings will be based on several poems from Ted Kooser’s book of poems titled, Flying at Night. Below is my first painting for the series, in progress. It’s based on Kooser’s poem, “A Buffalo Skull.”
So far this is pencil and gouache on watercolor paper.
This is my home studio corner. It shares a space with my office. I call it my artoffice - ha ha. I plan on incorporating collage elements using typed words on Japanese paper into several of these new works. My husband is letting me borrow this great old Hermes typewriter for this purpose. It’s definitely a dinosaur. I’m glad I don’t have to write a thesis on it.
