This past weekend I participated in COCA’s 24hr art marathon. I drove up to Seattle Thursday eve, stayed the night with friends, and arrived at an old brewery at 9am with several other artists - mostly from Seattle and Portland. Once there, we all made art non-stop for about 24hrs. Finished works were destined to be auctioned off to benefit the artists and COCA. Below are some pictures from the event.
We were right in the flight path and by the train tracks (very loud).
Inside the art sweatshop. We had a pretty great setup. They even kept us fed and watered.
My little corner of the world for 24 hrs. I did a good job remembering everything but gesso. Had to borrow some from a fellow artist.
“The Beach Gatherer” and “Metamorphosis” in progress.
“Screen Door Breach” in progress.
“Laundry”, finished? I think I’ll do some more work on this one.
“The Beach Collector”, sold.
“Metamorphosis” finished.
Finished painting, “Screen Door Breach”, sold.
The event and auction took place in this old brewery in Georgetown.
Patrons milling around at the silent auction.
My painting, “Metamorphosis”, up for bidding. Laura was a great auctioneer!
Geoff Garza, Marc Lindsay and I, dazed and confused at the auction. I drove back to Portland before the auction was over and arrived home at about 12:30am. Phew, what a weekend!
